L5R: Toturi’s Army (1996)
Rarely seen, ironically
After working on The Legend of the Five Rings for a year or so, the game was doing well and I’d done some 30 illustrations for it already. I was asked to create some art for an in-store promotional poster or something, which was a nice change of pace.
On balance, I still consider this one of my stronger pieces of the era. Largely, this was owing to size and time. As I entered illustration, I imagined that more of my career would be dedicated to illustrations that would be larger, and that I’d be allowed a bit more time on, to allow for the larger size. Instead, I was introduced to a world of small and fast!
