In the two years I spent working on the venerable Cricket Magazine, I was clearly pigeonholed into doing Greek mythological stuff. As things go, there are worse visuals to be pigeonholed into.

Medea (2004), 8x10” oil on paper over panel

I no longer remember the contents of the retelling of the story as it appeared in the magazine, and have not read the original and ancient versions. My own exposure to Greek mythology was largely through film and, likewise, retellings of the stories in school similar to this when I was growing up. A couple of Greek plays in High School.
