Mr. Flynt (2013)
Art from the graveyard
Work long enough and there grows a fairly sizeable graveyard of projects that never come to light. Turns out, running a business and bringing product to market is really hard. Today’s was from one such occasion.
I’ve complained about the experience of drawing digitally, versus digital painting. I will also forever complain about the use of the word, “Painting,” to refer to digital color rendering, which has absolutely zero to do with paint and has none of the challenges and vagaries of actual paint. Over time, I retreated to trying to incorporate traditional scaffolding for digital pieces, particularly for the drawing portion. This has always felt better. Occasionally, a piece has fairly simple objects that don’t require the finesse a real drawing would improve on.
