The Kamigawa block for Magic the Gathering was one of my favorite eras in the game for many years, just in terms of its look. Hiring a bunch of Japanese artists to help sculpt the look and style guide of the game really injected a lot of fresh visuals to the western fantasy market. These weren’t just anime or manga tropes, and it was a breath of fresh air.

Pure Intentions (2004) digital over 9x12” oil and acrylic on mounted paper

Assigned as, “Golden Feather Halo,” which makes a little more sense of the image, this kami/spirit I envisioned as emanating light.
