MTG: Runed Crown (2020)

I am sometimes a bit jealous of the time-saving tools digital artists have at their disposal.
When asked to illustrate Runed Crown for Magic’s Kaldheim release, it was a fairly simple request: design a gold crown floating over a decorative base, both of them highly decorative objects. For a digital artist, there are ways to simplify this whole process, which might include texture mapping a simple 3d object, lighting it and rendering out a frame, then finishing it with digital painting tools.
