Pagan Poetry (2017)

I’ve often found music to be visually inspiring, and these loves have often gone together with me, whether it’s been the late nights up painting with music accompaniment, or having spent some time creating music in a band, myself.
During the years I spent contributing to the Everyday Original online gallery, I took the opportunity to explore music through my art. It was deeply satisfying, but also I haven’t given myself the opportunity or risk of spending more time in painting larger works so inspired—despite having a couple I would very much like to do larger.
Bjork’s “Pagan Poetry” is a favorite of mine off her beautiful album, “Vespertine.” I had already conceived of another figurative work I could use a model for and sought out someone I could bring in to photograph for both works, since I was already going to be paying her fee to bring her in for the other painting.
