Topps are to be commended for being one of the few companies who kept on issuing trading cards which were, basically, just art! No game the art is supporting, no small boxes for the art which leaves room for text and so on. Hey, I love trading card games--they’ve made the bulk of my career, but it’s nice to actually have a card full of art for its own sake! I don’t know if they still do them, but I worked with Topps a couple of times in this era, including on the Star Wars Galaxy Series Trading cards, for which this artwork was commissioned.
Cards came randomly packed, and the set was made of reprinted art from a long history of Star Wars art, as well as newly commissioned pieces (aka “New Visions”). My contribution to the set was an illustration of Ahsoka (card #33 I believe).
