Repurpose
The past number of years, I’ve created a number of token cards for Magic players, which are a great way to spice up one’s deck with some custom art. One of the more popular ones has been this image, which functions as a 1/1 Spirit token.

This image itself began life as a black and white image for Every Day Original. Working on it was a little bit of a challenge, to think about how that unspooling effect would work. I recall trying to spiral cut the rind off some citrus fruit so I could photograph as reference. This almost worked but ultimately did not do the job, so while it provided a couple of useful data points, I basically had to set it aside and just sit and use my noggin’.
