NEXT WEEK ON ART OF THE DAY:

• I’ll be discussing the first of a number of World of Warcraft TCG illustrations I worked on.

• On the Magic front, we have some art from Innistrad, and I’ll make available my first vaulted original art, in the way of a preliminary study from 1998’s Stronghold expansion. Art will go live on Friday 10/17, 7AM for paid subscribers, and will be available for all subscribers Saturday 10/18, 7AM.

When I discussed the cover to this book a short time ago, I mentioned that the published cover was the second attempt at it. While I enjoyed working on Laurice Molinari’s YA series The Ether, there were some weird aspects to the project along the way. While through the 90s it wasn’t uncommon for me to finish a piece and create another to replace it, often without being asked, here, I was detoured in a way that I thought was far from the best solution.
