From the early days of Ice Age, Randy’s artwork has been a faithful companion for over three decades of Magic: the Gathering players. Along the way, his work inspired adventures in Dungeons & Dragons and many other tabletop card and roleplaying games. His work also reached younger imaginations in publications like Cricket Magazine and illustrated books, including the New York Times Bestseller, “The Spider Who Saved Christmas,” written by Raymond Arroyo.
Growing up as a child of the late 70’s and early 80’s, his love of videogame culture and still life painting inspired his series, “Hearts for Hardware,” commemorating the history of videogames through the hardware that powered it.
Beyond that, his personal and dream-like figurative works, his meticulous landscape and alla prima still life paintings have been shown in galleries and museum shows across the USA.
Here, every Monday through Friday, Randy will share a deep dive across the entire catalog of his work. Process information, sketches, unused and previously unseen art. In-depth thoughts about the development process accompany most posts. If you just like the pretty pictures, they are there for you every weekday. If you want to be inspired as an artist or learn more about how to think about artwork, the text is a treasure trove of insights.
